New shelves

Our pantry area was sadly lacking in shelves so last week I decided to add 4 12″x42″ shelves to it. We still need to contact paper them, but there is so much more space. Before, during, after photo below.

Garden Update – green beans

I had one small serving of green beans today. Sorry, I didn’t take a picture before I ate them, so you’ll have to imagine them being small and tender and tasty. I caught the 3 traditional beans before they got too big, and the new variety is turning out very well – long and only […]

Pies!

I never really understood the joy of pie crusts until I met Susan. Growing up I rarely ate the crust of a pie, although maybe my tastes were just different than now. In any case, I love Su’s pie crusts. This year has been a bumper crop for New England blueberries so last Saturday I […]

Garden Salad

I finally finished weeding the garden today. The herbs are holding their own, and two pepper plants survived. Of the four tomato plants, two have small green fruits on them and there are lots of yellow flowers. The tomatoes are staying in their cages pretty well, and the one without a cage is staying upright […]

A Grand Slam Weekend

We had a terrific weekend! Very productive and still very relaxing. Friday: Susan enjoyed “beer time” with co-workers after work. Traffic wasn’t bad on the way home. Brian stocked up at the grocery store and even picked up a few extra items from around town. We made spicy fish stew (think Portuguese influence) with salmon […]

6/16 Garden Update – Beans and Roses

The beans have sprouted! (Of course, I took a photo of the best bean sprout – but at least half of them are up, of both varieties.) The garden needs water (it was a dry week and I was in San Diego) but so far all the plants are looking happy. I have my first […]

Heeding the Call of the Yard

I really enjoy gardening. Getting my hands in the soil, being outside, and seeing plants grow is good for my soul. As usual, between the weather and my schedule, I didn’t have time to do much out in the yard/garden until June. The good part is that it’s safe to plant everything by now. First […]

Equipment Upgrades

Since I got home at a reasonable hour on Friday, Brian and I had time to go shopping. First on our list was a new grill. We had been using a hand-me-down that I got from a co-worker circa 1998. It had done good strong work, but by last year, it only worked on one […]

Yay for a piano and spring cleaning

Despite Brian’s cold, we decided today was the day to get the Sheldon’s piano. First we did a thorough cleaning and re-organization of the living room to figure out where we were going to put it. We pulled up the braided rug, took most everything out of the room, and did lots of vacuuming and […]

A new computer
